The evolution of hard drives

The hard drives or hard disks (HDDs) are constantly evolving.  The company is promising Hitachi Terabyte hard drives 4 in 2009.

Hitachi introduced a new disk-drive head size and reduced, which will create up to 4 TB hard drives for desktops. The new heads measuring 30 to 50 nanometers and up to 4 TB drives are expected to hit the market in 2009.

Read the article from The Inquirer:

At first the hard disks were much more expensive and had much less storage capacity.  The first hard drives were the size of a shoebox and storage capacity of only 5 Kbytes. They were also heavy. The mainframe and micro computers is not accepting the use of hard disks, which were huge porcelain dishes.

Today we can find in the market drives of 4 Terabytes and up to 10 but by what you see will soon be overcome.

1 Terabyte hard drives have a cost-effective today and can be purchased by ordinary consumers without major disbursements. These drives can be installed in RAID is a technology where multiple hard drives can be installed in parallel so that when reading and writing data on hard drives that data is divided and recorded at the same time half in and half a hard drive to another hard drive.

Some people do not like to put penetrating spray lubricant material in electrical equipment, they imagine that it is not appropriate, but I do not agree with that position, because the specifications show that this material is dielectric, or insulating, and can be used electrical equipment. The penetrating oil in turn eliminates the micro oxidation that settle in conductive materials of cables and card slots and are responsible for the installation of bad contact. Try and draw your own conclusions.

Obviously it is ideal that the electrical environment where oil will be used is first cleaned, otherwise the oil will usually mix with the dirt from the proliferation of dust mites which can compromise the insulation where it occurs mostly on differences in potential high . Cleaning can be done for example with a freon spray, brush and dry up with alcohol or ether.

The RAID (We intend to make a post just to talk about it and another just to talk about the Serial ATA) allows you to connect up to four hard drives in parallel, to speed reading and writing, as well as to greatly increase the capacity of HD, today can easily overcome with the use of this technology's house TERABITE (thousand gigabytes).

The modern motherboards currently already have a large number of Serial ATA ports for use with hard drives connected in RAID. An example of these is the motherboard manufacturer ASUS P5B series (There are several models from ASUS that start with that acronym.) This series of motherboards provides six serial ATA ports and one port for the use of technology with the use of RAID drives External.

Other Boards, such as the manufacturer Gigabyte and Intel bring four Serial ATA ports for use of this technology.

The IDE ports are increasingly on the wane, and modern motherboards today provide only one IDE port for connecting CD players and DVD how provide. However the manufacturers of DVD players and DVD recorders, are already the manufacturing output with Serial ATA, and soon the motherboards of computers will eliminate the doors from time to time and take IDE Serial ATA.

About all these technologies will be commenting soon.
